CAMINO MHACHA 2026 (in tribute to Mattie Lennon)
Save the date for Sunday, August 23rd, 2026 for the return of CAMINO MHACHA!
Camino Mhacha is a 25.5 mile (41 kilometer) sponsored walk to raise essential funds for Aonach Mhacha to continue their vital work for the Irish language and culture in the community.
Walkers would follow in the footsteps of Cú Chulainn by starting at Tí Chulainn, Mullagh Bán and ending at Cultúrlann Aonach Mhacha, Armagh City. This route will wind from the Ring of Sliabh Gcuillinn, an area of outstanding natural beauty, to the heart of Armagh through valleys and hills set in a truly beautiful landscape and through an area steeped in mythology, history and literature.
There’s something for everyone this year!
In addition to the 25.5 mile walk, we are delighted to announce a Family Walk from the Christian Brothers School to Nenagh.
This is the first year of ‘Turas na Tána’, a very special tribute to the late Mattie Lennon. Mattie was the first person to complete the Camino Mhacha in under 3 hours and 37 minutes. As his son Matthew said, “Perhaps a legend, like the mighty Cú Chulainn himself, is the most apt description of all for someone who hurled like a man, played the game and got busy living”.

Join us on Wednesday, June 17th at 7pm in the Conference Room (on the 2nd floor) in Aonach Mhacha for the launch of Camino Mhacha 2026.
