Cultúrlann Aonach Mhacha is delighted to announce that our first 3-Day Camp, Campa Shamhna, will take place from Monday the 26th of October 2026 to Wednesday the 28th of October 2026 (10:00am – 2:00pm)!
Online registration for Campa Shamhna 2026 will open at 9am on Thursday 1st October 2026.
Campa Shamhna aims is to encourage local children to use their Irish language skills outside of the school environment. Currently, there are no other youth services or camps in the area providing Irish-medium activities or fluent youth workers during the October and February mid-term breaks. The children will have the opportunity to speak Irish during the mid-term break and learn about the ancient seasonal festival of Samhain.
Campa Shamhna will cater to children going through Irish-medium education and, as usual, priority will be given to Rang 1 – 7 children in Irish-medium primary schools across County Armagh. Any remaining spaces will be given to children who have a good understanding of Irish from home and to children attending Irish-medium primary schools in surrounding counties.
To ensure age-appropriate activities, the camp will be split into two distinct age groups mirroring our annual summer camp, Campa Mhacha:
Camp 1: Rang 1 – 3
Camp 2: Rang 4 – 7
Your child must speak Irish to participate in the Campa Shamhna.
There is a fee of £45 per child to confirm a place on the camp for the first and second child. However, there is a reduced fee of £40 per child for the third, fourth, fifth child (etc.) if all children are from the same family.
Breakdown:
£45 = One child
£90 = Two children
£130 = Three children
£170 = Four children
£210 = Five children
A registration form will be sent out after registration to collect important details. We ask parents to fill out this form immediately or submit the form before 5:00pm on Friday 16th October 2026.
Campa Shamhna is staffed by a highly dedicated and motivated team of teachers, youth workers, and a community development team with many years of experience in delivering recreational projects for young people. All camp staff are fully qualified and trained to professional standards, and all are vetted in accordance with legislation.
